Always a bridesmaid....

Always a bridesmaid...........never a bride! For three years in a row now, I’ve been nominated for the Photography category of the VOWS awards, without managing to make that final step. But I should explain the judging process: Initially the brides I have photographed in the 12 months up to the 20th September can vote for me and make nice comments on an online form. These are all looked at and the top 7 photographers become nominees. That’s the most important bit, as it’s entirely based on bride’s (and groom’s) opinions of me, my photography and how it all worked together on their wedding day. So a huge thanks to everyone who voted for me and thank you for the lovely comments you must have made (I don’t get to see any of them.)

The next step involves my filling in a ‘business enquiry’ form, where I explain aspects of Q Photography’s business: how I create, maintain and improve service levels, etc. The judges then look at these and decide a winner. Photographs do not come into this judging process at all (!) And that’s why I’m not too bothered about not winning (again) and if you believe that.....

Anyway, Steve (Design Scotland Video) and his wife Yvonne (Scottish Wedding Consultants) and I travelled to Glasgow for the black tie event at the Hilton. All three of us were nominees - and Steve won (as you can see in the photo below left.) Of course, much drinking followed, and even some dancing. Although I’m glad that’s Yvonne’s hand on my chest, and not the other way round!
