Some editorial work

I thought I was going to have one Saturday free this August, and was looking forward to an afternoon with a friends dog on the beach, possibly followed by a bbq with friends.

Then my colleagues at OnEdition got involved.....

I started out at Port Edgar, to the west of Edinburgh, boarding an inflatable so that I could photograph the clipper “Edinburgh Inspiration Capital” as she sailed under the Forth Bridges sporting the world’s largest Saltire as her Spinnaker. She is part of a fleet of identical boats that will race round the world over the next ten months.

Then back to Port Edgar, and into a car for the journey to Ocean Terminal in Leith. While being driven, I downloaded the images to my MacBook Pro and made a selection. On arrival I headed straight to Starbucks and their wi-fi signal and sent the pictures through to the office. From there they sent the images out to all the papers before 1pm - which was just in time for me to return to the yacht to photograph it being named by First Minister Alex Salmond.

This is the sort of working life I used to have, and as these things go, it was fun work and nice to return to. Not every day though - I prefer weddings!

Below is the resulting 6 column picture in Scotland on Sunday, and my personal favourite of the day.
